El interés del presente trabajo se centró en conocer como es la percepción de la imagen corporal de las estudiantes de la facultad de psicología de la UAEM, en la Cd. de Toluca, Estado de México, medida a través del test  de siluetas para adolescentes (TSA) de Maganto y M. S. Cruz. La prueba se aplicó a 61 estudiantes alumnas del 2° semestre de la licenciatura en Psicología, todas ellas contaban con 18 años de edad al momento de la aplicación. Se hizo referencia especial a la etapa de la adolescencia como un momento determinante para la formación de la personalidad y de una identidad propia, por lo que se considera un momento de vulnerabilidad para la aparición de algún trastorno de la conducta alimentaria, soló como un dato alterno. El estudio es de tipo exploratorio y se utilizó la estadística descriptiva para el manejo de los resultados, mismos que permitieron concluir la prevalencia de un modelo estético corporal de delgadez entre las alumnas de la evaluación, lo mismo que un índice de distorsión e insatisfacción dentro de lo esperable así como una ausencia de trastornos de la alimentación. Uno de los temas que a partir de los últimos años ha ocupado la atención de investigadores sociales y a su vez, de organizaciones de índole social (como la SEP a nivel nacional y la UNICEF, a nivel internacional) es el que corresponde a la violencia de género. Por arquetipo social se adjudica como víctima –generalmente- a la mujer y como victimario al hombre. La necesidad de reconocimiento social, la adaptación y sentido de supervivencia en un ambiente socialmente catalogado como hostil, permite mostrar que el entorno social desfavorable puede ser un elemento que permee el desarrollo personal o sirva de factor coadyuvante para promoverlo.
