Title A name given to the resource Uso problemático de las nuevas tecnologías de la información en estudiantes universitarios Abstract A summary of the resource. El presente estudio tuvo dos objetivos principales. El primero consistió en evaluar la correlación entre uso de Internet, teléfono celular y Facebook, con ansiedad, depresión y autoestima. El segundo consistió en evaluar la correlación entre el uso de las tecnología descritas, abuso de alcohol y celotipia. Con este fin se llevaron a cabo dos estudios independientes, en ambos se emplearon muestras no probabilísticas de estudiantes de licenciatura (n=294 en el primer estudio y n=300 en el segundo) y cuestionarios cerrados de propiedades psicométricas conocidas. Los resultados del primer estudio mostraron que el uso de cada una de las tecnologías de interés está asociado con un perfil de problemas mentales diferente. Los resultados del segundo estudio mostraron que el uso de las tecnologías correlaciona de manera directa con abuso de alcohol y celotipia. Los resultados se discuten en términos de la “teoría de la conducta problema”, así como en términos de posibles estrategias de prevención y tratamiento. Se realizó la investigación sobre la fobia social; con una muestra no probabilística por conveniencia de 381 universitarios, compuesta por diferentes instituciones de educaciones superiores tanto públicas como privadas. Se consideraron ambos sexos, carreras y semestres.  Para ello, se elaboró un instrumento para diferenciar la fobia social de la ansiedad común, y los tipos de fobia que existen. La confiabilidad obtenida del instrumento muestra un Alpha de Cronbach de .879, y la validez obtenida con análisis factorial fue de 51.309 % que representa a los cinco factores después de haber sido analizados. Los resultados arrojaron que la fobia social puede ser asociada al bajo rendimiento escolar en preparatoria, al miedo y sudoración y a la diferente ubicación donde se encontraron las universidades. En cuanto a la fobia social en la escuela, los hombres presentaron tener más que las mujeres; por el contrario en cuanto a los miedos racionales y a las fobias a los animales, las mujeres presentaron más que los hombres. Los alumnos de la UNAM presentaron mayores síntomas como miedo y sudoración así como miedos racionales, en comparación con las otras universidades. Finalmente, se encontró que los alumnos que han asistido a tratamiento psicológico previamente, suelen presentar más fobia social que los que no. Los estudiantes universitarios tienen presiones escolares que los enfrentan a situaciones muy estresantes que pueden dañar su salud. La familia representa una importante fuente de apoyo social, para el afrontamiento del estrés. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar las áreas de salud y familiar de estudiantes de carreras del área de la salud, así como detectar las posibles diferencias entre géneros. Se evaluaron 50 estudiantes de Medicina y 50 de Psicología, de una universidad pública. Se diseñó una escala Likert para evaluar las áreas de interés. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en cuanto a las dos áreas con el género y la profesión. Los porcentajes revelaron que la mayoría de los estudiantes tiene buenas relaciones familiares, no descansan suficiente tiempo, no tienen buenos hábitos alimenticios y se sienten muy cansados. Se sugiere revisar las cargas académicas que tienen que cumplir los estudiantes e incluir programas de afrontamiento del estrés.
