La investigación tiene como objetivo principal caracterizar la alexitimia en paciente drododependientes. La alexitimia es definida como la falta de palabras a las emociones y los sentimientos y consecuente a ello. Dicho estudio se realizó con pacientes varones de la Clínica de tratamiento de alcohol y drogas 12 pasos de la ciudad de Cuenca. Para medir y conocer el grado de alexitimia se aplicó la escala evaluativa TAS-20 (Toronto Alexitme Scale – 20) la cual permitió determinar la dificultad de os pacientes para la identificación y descripción de los sentimientos tanto propios como externos; se trabajó con una muestra de 51 pacientes, entre 18 y 56 años de edad. Los reforzadores tanto naturales como artificiales inciden sobre los mismos sistemas neuronales, por lo que a consecuencia de un uso indebido de aquellos reforzadores artificiales, se puede producir una alteración en los sistemas neuronales, y desencadenar un trastorno que comúnmente se llama adicción. El circuito de recompensa desempeña un papel fundamental en el desarrollo y mantenimiento de la adicción, ya que dicho circuito se encarga de regular aquellas sensaciones placenteras, facilitar el aprendizaje y memorizar aquellos estímulos contextuales, que pueden servir como desencadenantes en la repetición de una conducta. El objetivo de la presente investigación fue identificar aquellos indicadores situacionales neurobiológicos y cognitivos que caracterizan la conducta adictiva. Por lo que participaron 57 estudiantes, 16 hombres y 41 mujeres entre 20 y 25 años de edad, de la carrera de Optometría. Los resultados mostraron los indicadores neurobiológicos y cognitivos que se encuentran ligados al sistema de recompensa, pueden ejercer como desencadenantes hacia el consumo de alcohol, y la descripción de la conducta adictiva. En este artículo se presenta una revisión del constructo de la alexitimia y su vinculación con la victimización y la perpetración en la violencia de pareja. Su objetivo es explorar si la alexitimia es un concepto potencialmente útil para estudiar e intervenir en violencia de pareja. Se observa que la alexitimia cuenta con un bagaje importante de investigación desde su introducción a principios de la década de 1970. Este constructo de personalidad hace referencia a un déficit en el procesamiento cognitivo de las emociones e implica dificultades para regular emociones, ajustarse a las relaciones personales y resolver problemas de convivencia. Debido a estas características, el concepto ha empezado a aplicarse al estudio de la violencia de pareja y puede ser potencialmente útil para intervenciones clínicas en esta problemática. La relación entre la alexitimia y la victimización parece estar mediada parcialmente por la depresión, mientras que su relación con la perpetración parece estar mediada totalmente por la victimización o por la expresión de la ira; por lo que la asociación de la alexitimia parece ser más sustantiva con la victimización que con la perpetración. Considerando estos hallazgos, se sugieren algunas vías para estudiar e intervenir clínicamente sobre este rasgo.
